From now on, several areas of the parish have been filled with steel sculptures by Jordi Díez. There are a total of nine works, all made of steel and placed on top of a large granite stone, native to the country and that acts as a link between the street and the piece of art. The exhibition is entitled ‘El trànsit. Crònica d’un camí’ and has the human figure as the backbone of all the pieces, in what is meant to be a journey through three fundamental stages: separation, transition and incorporation.
According to explained the councillor of Culture of the Escaldenc community, Salomó Benchluch, they were looking for a figurative art in harmony with the lady of gel. Benlluch also pointed out that this is the first time that so many works by Díez have been brought together in an exhibition, which has been particularly designed for Escaldes-Engordany.
Tot and that it was not the initial idea, the common is valuing to remain in ownership one of the works exhibited, if an economic agreement is reached with the artist’s team.
The sculptures will remain on display until September 29th. Before that, on the 22nd, there will be a workshop for children and a conference with the artist.
