From this Thursday Escaldes-Engordany has a new urban attraction. It is a sculpture by the Catalan Jordi Díez called Nefer 2.0 and has been installed in the Coprínceps square. In this way Díez joins other artists who have their work in the parish.
Last year on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the parish the artist Jordi Díez will make an urban exhibition of the series “El trànsit. Crònica d’un camí”, a collection d’acer where the human figure is the protagonist. Even then it was announced intention to buy one of the fish so that it would be exhibited in the parish church and The chosen one has been Nefer 2.0, a Nefertiti with a look at the buit, perfection and buit, two concepts that the artist works with. “The sculpture, apart from being of a totally exquisite formal rigor, seems to be propose a kind of enigma: how is it possible that a person of those times could have had such a high degree of evolution?” asks Díez, who stands out this “cosmic buit” of his eyes.
The piece of about 200 kilograms and almost 1.80 meters high will be installed in the middle of the avenue where nowadays has already caught the attention of the first onlookers. “We know that he has a great international projection. For days we had thought that the square might need some more elements… I everything is going to fit”, explains the conseller of Maintenance and Urbanism, Josep Tudel.
Jordi Díez’s Nefer joins others that are already part of the image of the parish such as Demo’s golden cockerel, Toutain’s cyclist and the imposing Dama de Gel by Ángel Calvente and Philippe Lavaill.
