A Nefertiti with a lost look has been installed this morning at the Coprínceps square. The Escaldes-Engordany community and the sculptor Jordi Díez have inaugurated the new work of the artist, ‘Nefer 2.0’, which represents the face of the Egyptian divinity made of steel and is based on a portrait of the author’s daughter. According to Díez, the work proposes a “kind of enigma”, since one of the main characteristics of the sculpture is the absence of eyes that provides a “very special” look and represents the lack of eyeballs that were replaced by precious stones once the person died and were later stolen. “It offers a pseudo-look that has always seduced me because it seems like the gaze of eternity, that neither looks nor stops looking, and in which you can perceive a kind of vulture” explained Díez. The sculptor is internationally known for making steel works with the minimum material in order to define the forms of the work.
